Emotional Intelligence (EI) Competency Coaching Cards

EI is twice the indicator of leadership success as IQ and technical skills combined. The good news is that we can all learn to develop our emotional intelligence skills with some EI tools.

What are Coaching Cards?

EI Competency Coaching Cards are a powerful tool for self-awareness and better understanding of the impact you have on others. Each pack of coaching cards comes with 12 EI competencies that can help individuals understand techniques to improve their emotional intelligence.

How Can Leaders and Managers Use Coaching Cards?

You can use the 12 EI Competency Coaching Cards individually, in pairs or with your team, and they are an excellent training aid or support tool when coaching others. Many organizations that use these cards in their training and coaching programs find it an opportunity for self-reflection.  We suggest working in pairs or with someone else.  Choose 2 EI Competencies of strength and 2 EI Competencies of challenge for you.

Coaching Questions for Leaders

• What can you do to improve on your strengths?
• How can you better coach others that struggle with this same competency?
• What can you do to be more self-aware about a challenging competency?
• How can you shift or change a behavior to improve that EI competency?

Front side of each card has an explanation of the competency and the back side provides you with tools to improve on that competency. Each competency is related to the four domains of emotional intelligence: Self Awareness, Self Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Management.
